Structure-Function Relationship of Mitochondria in Health and Disease
Mitochondria are the cellular organelles that became the seat of energy production and intermediary metabolism during the course of evolution of eukaryotic cells. We want to understand how an eukaryotic cell interplays it's 'energetics' and 'signaling' modules to make cell fate decisions.
The deepest mysteries of life can only be understood and translated for the benefit of mankind via multidisciplinary collaborations. We team up to investigate how modulation of mitochondrial structure and function helps a normal cell decide whether it will turn into a cancer cell, and regulates a cancer cell's ability to respond to treatment.
