2020
- Kasturi assumes the responsibilities of co-Program Director of the Genetics and Genomic Sciences major at UAB.
2021
- Brian starts his postdoc at UNC, Chapel Hill
- Kasturi obtains the prestigious Wellcome Trust-DBT India Alliance Senior Fellowship. She will move her currently NIH funded laboratory at UAB to Ashoka University, Delhi NCR, India, starting Jan 2022. Currently, she can be reached at [email protected] for open postdoctoral and other research positions available at her Ashoka lab. Computational biologists will also find shovel ready projects to take digs at. She will accept graduate trainees for PhD through the Biology PhD program at ashoka.edu.in/page/phd-bio-105
- Kasturi is invited to deliver a seminar at Duke, Nicholas School of the Environment, on Feb 3rd, 2022. She will talk about her lab's discovery and characterization of mitochondrial priming of stem cells. This fall, she will also deliver seminars in the UAB departments of Genetics (home) and Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics (invited).
2022
- Welcome postdoctoral scientists, Swati Agarwala and Sukhamay Dhabal, to the lab! Swati obtained her masters and PhD from Mysore University as a DST-INSPIRE Fellow. Sukhamay obtained his masters from Presidency College, Calcutta and PhD from NIT, Durgapur. Each of them bring in distinct expertise to the lab.
- Our research gets featured in NIEHS newsletter.
- Welcome Mayank Saini as a PhD candidate. Mayank is interested in aging and cancer, and in learning microscopy.
- Welcome Adheesh as an ASP scholar. Adheesh will help us get started with the breast cancer project.
- Welcome Bharti as a PhD candidate. Bharti brings in her interest in immunity. She will use the Drosophila model in getting us on that path.
- Kasturi led Ashoka University in teaming up with Cote d'Azur University for obtaining French Government funding for Franco-Indian Campus.
- CONGRATS to Swati on her selection as a DBT- RA. Well deserved!
2023
- Welcome Yoshita as a PhD candidate. Yoshita wants to study impact of light on Drosophila stem cells.
- Welcome Pragya as an intern. She will work with Yoshita.
- CONGRATS to Adheesh on being accepted for the UCL MRes on Cancer Biology. Wishing him Luck!
- Kasturi delivers an alumni talk, Following the White Rabbit, on the 7th CCMB Founder's Day celebration.
- CONGRATS to Bharti and Mayank on their DBT fellowships!
- Welcome Akshara as an ASP scholar. She will engage in quantitative microscopy work in the senescence project.
- Welcome Niyati as an MSc Bio Thesis student. She will engage in stem cell biology project in collaboration with Prof. Dasarathi, inStem, as an extension of her short research project.
- Welcome Devbrat as a postdoctoral scientist. He will help us with his structural biology expertise.
- Welcome Biratal as a Research tech. He wants to finish his contribution on quantitative analyses of mitochondrial structure-function before he heads over for his MS.
- Application for Simon-Ashoka Early Career Fellowships is open. Eligible candidates interested in declaring Kasturi as a mentor for a quantitative bioscience project can reach out by email.
- Wishing luck to Mayank, Yoshita and Swati as they make their selected presentations in the respective international meetings/workshops at Marsilius academy (Germany), Microscopy Course (NCBS, Bangalore), Computational Systems Biology of Cancer (Institute Curie, Paris).
- Welcome Rittik as an MPhasis supported intern. He will work with our data under the Ashoka-AI endeavor.
2024
- PhD or JRF position (co-mentored with Prof. Gautam Menon, Ashoka University) is open for candidates with quantitative sciences background. The project is on theoretical modeling of mitochondrial structure-function. Data generated in Kasturi's lab can be used to test and validate the theoritical models. Collaboration with experimentalists in Kasturi's lab will enrich the project. Applications will be accepted through Ashoka PhD program.
